The Hideout Hair Salon and Lounge is an establishment in the beauty and cosmetology industry that is committed to addressing the mental health of their employees. The Hideout Salon and Lounge was looking to address employee engagement, absenteeism, presenteeism, workplace communications, boundaries, leadership, depression, and anxiety among the employees. After a year of partnering Ovation for their mental health needs, The Hideout Hair Salon and Lounge has seen significant improvements in engagement, employee relationships, financial growth, and the overall health of the work environment. This commitment to mental health has not only benefited employees but has also contributed significantly to the financial growth of The Hideout Hair Salon and Lounge.

 

Client Background:

The Hideout Salon and Lounge is a salon employing approximately 28 stylists located in the heart of East Nashville, TN. Their mission is to give the community great hair and cultivate a safe place to be creative. The Hideout Hair Salon and Lounge offers a wide range of services including haircuts, coloring, blowouts and styles, makeup and esthetics, and hair extensions.

Client Goals:

The Hideout Salon and Lounge was challenged with high stress levels and burnout among their employees both in and out of the workplace impacting engagement, workplace relationships, and leadership. By offering access to therapy, The Hideout Salon and Lounge has seen significant improvement in employee mental well-being and overall health, ultimately creating a more positive and fulfilling work environment where staff feel supported, valued, and able to perform at their best.

The Challenge

Initial Problem:

Decrease productivity due to absenteeism, loss of income from staff members unable to work, toxic employee relationships leading to a negative work environment, and a lack of employee engagement and initiative, are the challenges which led the Hideout Salon and Lounge to seek a solution.

Project Scope:

The mental health services offered by Ovation to The Hideout Salon and Lounge consist of individual counseling sessions and support for the employees, as well as managing the process and providing data to the employer evaluating return on investment. The services aim to provide employees with a safe space to address their mental health concerns and develop coping strategies for stress and anxiety. In order to access these services, employees may be required to undergo an initial assessment to determine their needs and goals for treatment. Confidentiality and privacy are also key constraints that must be addressed throughout the counseling process. Additionally, time constraints may apply to ensure that services are delivered in a timely manner to meet the needs of all employees at The Hideout Salon and Lounge.
